A bit about the bird
Hume’s bush warbler is a small plain olive-brown bush warbler native to himalayas, ranging across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and southeastern Tibet. This bird is very skulking getting a good picture is a tough call. It frequently cocks and fans its long tail while moving through thick vegetation. It is primarily insectivorous, gleaning small arthropods like beetles, caterpillars, and spiders from low vegetation, twigs, and the ground.
Sighting
On 4th june while returning from the senchal wls, we stopped a few places, in one such place where the habitat was very deep bushy, bamboo thickets available we got the iconic call which sounds like “sa re ga ma” from where it’s got it’s name sa-ra-ga-ma bird, our guide Bipen Lama told us.
Example of the sound
details of the encounter
After we hear the sound we waited long enough then suddenly not one but two birds gave us around 5 minutes to get some photos. It was behaving like a mouse and with such loose tail you can easily identify the bird.
